END grain Cutting Boards

End grain cutting boards made from cherry and maple. The following process was used:

1. Four square (jointer, planar, table saw) and cut (table saw) 8 pieces of cherry and maple each.

2. Glue pieces in desired design order (wood glue + parallel bar clamps)

3. Cut (crosscut sled + table saw) glued boards into 16 pieces.

4. Orient pieces in desired order and glue together (wood glue + parallel bar clamps) with end grain facing out.

5. Route inset handles (round nose bit + hand router), dremel and sand any remaining burn marks.

6. Sand (drum + random orbital sander)  and clean boards. (80 -> 320 grit, food safe mineral oil finish).
