End grain cutting boards made from cherry and maple. The following process was used:
Four square (jointer, planar, table saw) and cut (table saw) 8 pieces of cherry and maple each.
Glue pieces in desired design order (wood glue + parallel bar clamps)
Cut (crosscut sled + table saw) glued boards into 16 pieces.
Orient pieces in desired order and glue together (wood glue + parallel bar clamps) with end grain facing out.
Route inset handles (round nose bit + hand router), dremel and sand any remaining burn marks.
Sand (drum + random orbital sander) and clean boards. (80 -> 320 grit, food safe mineral oil finish).
